Allow me to reintroduce myself

In case you’ve forgotten I’m the badass behind the lens here at 422 Studio. That’s me! Ginger Jones Women’s Portrait Photographer, at your service. Ok, ok, I’m certainly not outwardly your typical baddie. These days with my lighter (cough grey cough cough) hair and glasses I’m looking more like someone’s favorite auntie. In fact I get asked for cooking tips in the grocery store these days. Because I look less baddie and more baker. And yes I live in overalls in the studio and at home. What can I say, they’re comfy as hell and have loads of pockets. Ya can’t go wrong there.

This year I’ve taken a bit of a step back from social media and want to redirect my energy back to this space. My blog is my new home base. It’s a space where you can get to know more about me. You can see how I’m working with my amazing clients and I’ll keep you up to date on events happening around the studio. It’ll be a peek into my life as well as my work. Much like you’d be getting from me on my socials. It’s me minus the doom scrolling.

Feel free to leave me a comment or ask me a question. I’m happy to answer. I’m a bit of an open book here.

Ginger Jones Women's Portrait Photographer

Anyhow, what do you DO?

Oh that! I am a portrait photographer and I work with amazing women. Yes! All of them are amazing. Some just haven’t come to fully recognize that fact yet. But after working with me they’re starting to really see it.

Women come to me because on some level they feel a shift. They know they’re ready to step into the world in a new way. They’re preparing to rewrite the old stories they’ve told about themselves and see themselves in a new, more positive, light. They are ready to reclaim their confidence. Some are ready to feel confident for the first time in their lives.

With my camera in hand I show you a different side of you. The you that is standing in her power owning her feminine energy. We embrace the vulnerable, the sensual, the strength hidden inside you and we pull that to the surface. And yes we create stunning images in the process. Images that will serve as a daily reminder of the incredible woman you are. But the most valuable thing you walk away with is a new found sense of confidence.

Why women’s portrait photography aka boudoir photography?

My first boudoir experience was when I was just 26 years old. I was in college, going through a very painful divorce and had incredibly poor self image. After years of being made to feel small, and replaceable, and just never enough, my self esteem was in the trash. I modeled for a glamour photoshoot for a photographer friend. I wore red hot pants and a chainmail bra while straddling a motorcycle that I did not own or know how to ride. That session was a catalyst for me to start viewing myself as ME again. And not just the ME from before I was a mom or a wife. A whole new ME. A powerful woman determined to live life on her own terms. I felt like a new woman and I needed to learn to love and care for her above all else.

That session didn’t change my day to day life but it TOTALLY changed my self image. It shifted my perspective so that I was seeing ME the powerful, badass woman, I know myself to be. That experience was the spark that restored confidence and allowed me to move forward in my life in whole new ways.

Fast forward about a decade and a whole bunch of life changes (including a cross country move and marriage #2). I got my first digital SLR camera and grabbed a friend and we did some genuinely cheesy pinup photos in my living room. I still love those first pinup sessions from my old house because they were the foundation of every beautiful thing I do today. Were it not for those first few years doing pinup in my garage I wouldn’t be here today creating the wonderful work we create, with the amazing women I work with now.

And now, nearly 18 years later, I’m still helping other powerful (even if they don’t see it yet) women, reclaim their confidence and live life on their own terms. All while learning to love and care for themselves. It’s what I do and it’s the best job I could ever hope to have.

I do still post on some social media I’m just not committed to it daily. You can find all my links here:
