Sometimes we think we need a “reason” to do something we’ve really been wanting to do. Well, well, allow me to give you 8 reasons to do a photo shoot this year. Of course the best reason of all is because you want to do it and that alone is a valid reason (so make that 9). But if you need to dig deeper for one consider these:
- You deserve it. Look, the world is feeling pretty heavy these days, and one way you can do a deep reconnect with yourself is to get down and vulnerable during a boudoir, beauty, or fine art photo shoot. You work so freaking hard. At work, at home, at life in general. You give everything and everyone your all BUT you. This year put yourself on your “needs attention and care” list and let us be the ones taking care of you for the day.
- It’s a unique way to celebrate yourself. Whether you’re hitting a milestone birthday this year, you’ve landed a big promotion, hit the empty nest stage of mom life, or are on a self discovery journey of any kind, adding a deeply meaningful and intimate experience like this can really help you celebrate and grow.
- You need a little excitement in your life. A photo shoot is such an exciting experience. From the early planning stages, to our styling Zoom call and shopping for outfits, to the actual photo shoot day, getting your makeup and hair styled, and seeing your photos for the first time. It’s all so freaking exciting! Then after all that, receiving your gorgeous art work and actually seeing the tangible product of all that excitement. When life can get to feeling like every day is on repeat mixing in a shot of excitement can be just the spice you need to get back in step with yourself.
- There is no time like the present. You’ve probably said, “when I lose 15 pounds” “when I win the lottery” “when the sun, moon and planets align, I’ll book the shoot.” Why wait? Life will show you there is almost never an “ideal time” to do something FOR YOU. There is always someone or something who’s needs you’ll be pulled to attend before your own. This year put it on the calendar and make it happen. The time is now.
- Show up in pictures. Are you always the one taking the pictures and never the one in them? Girl! Show up. Not to be morbid, but if you were to suddenly die would the most recent portrait your family has of you be your high school senior photo, or a wedding photo? You need to be seen in photos at ANY stage in your life even if, especially if, you don’t feel good enough in that moment. You deserve to be seen right now, as you are! Let’s make something memorable.
- Now more than ever women need to show up as their full, whole selves. Loving yourself is totally an act of rebellion. And a when you do a boudoir, beauty or fine art type of photo shoot, it’s like walking directly toward the power of your authentic self! You leave the shoot feeling emboldened to go live your life on your terms.
- Aging is happening, and it’s not going to wait for you to be ready. I don’t say that as a bad thing. Aging is a gift denied to many and it should be celebrated. We tend to want to opt out of photos as our reflection starts to age. Stop it! Connecting with yourself during all the amazing stages of life keeps you connected to a sense of self and purpose. So do the shoot! Do it scared. Do it nervous. Do it even though it’s out of your comfort zone, but do it. You will be so grateful to have these pictures to reflect on. Then come see me again in 5 years and we’ll capture you at the next beautiful stage in your aging journey.
- Confidence baby! It’s all about confidence. You don’t do the session because you’re already confident. I mean that can happen however the vast majority of my clients are working hard on building their confidence. Confidence comes from doing. When you do the thing, you’re able to look back on that action and say “dayum, I’m pretty badass. Look at what I just did” and that confidence stays with you. That’s yours now. You own it!
