First of all I LOVE this for you! The fact that 40 feels scary and you want to conquer that fear with a photo session to celebrate yourself is fanfreakingtastic. I am 100% here for it.
I get this question about scheduling timelines really frequently. If you have a special occasion coming up and you’re planning a photo shoot as part of your celebration, you want to make sure your timing is right. That way you get your amazing artwork back on your preferred timeline.

A 6 week scheduling window leaves plenty of wiggle room.
In general, I suggest having your session be about 6 weeks before you’d need your artwork back. Certain products just take a bit of time for delivery. Like our albums and wall art, which can both take about 4 weeks of production time. Digital files are ready quite a bit quicker, but as a general rule, a 6 week scheduling window leaves plenty of wiggle room.
Now, if the celebration IS the photo session, you’ll want to reach out as soon as you have a date. Let’s say your birthday is November 11th and you want to have the photo shoot on your actual birthday. Reach out right away, the earlier the better. There are 2 reasons for that. If you reach out to me in February, the chances are higher that your preferred November date will still be available than if you reach out in October. Secondly is our payment plans. The earlier you book your date, the longer you have to take advantage of an in-house, interest free, pre-session payment plan. Being an early bird is both good planning and makes it easier to fund. So the answer to “When should I schedule my photo shoot?” is, the sooner the better.
