” It was the most liberating and confidence boosting thing I’ve ever done!” That’s what Miss T said after her session with me earlier this year. She impressed me so much. Being a mom, aspiring fitness model, vegan (yes those muscles are being built with a plant based diet) and all around badass. This woman was a joy to work with. Such good energy coming out of her. I am loving the images we created together. Plus she gave me permission to share her session experience with with you all. Bonus! So here you have a Richmond Boudoir photo session experience, in her words.
Why did you pick me for to be your photographer?
Your website is what is made me initially contact you. I thought it looked very professional and I was impressed with your work. I contacted a few other photographers but I was drawn to you specifically because of how professional, knowledgeable, patient, and down-to-earth you were via our telephone conversations and email exchanges. You made me feel confident that I would be in the right hands for what I was trying to accomplish with this photo-shoot.
What prompted you to do a boudoir session?
The funny thing is, I didn’t even consider doing a boudoir session until I came across your website. I was mainly focused on fitness. However, after seeing your work I thought “this is classy and sexy, a great way to exhibit confidence and the love for who you are and what you were blessed with, regardless of what shape or form that may be.”
“self-sabotaging thoughts you could think about made me nervous as heck”
What were you most nervous about coming into the session?
“I’m no model” is something that kept coming to mind. “I’m going to look stupid!” “I don’t even know how to do a sexy pose!” “This will be the day I don’t quite get my make-up to look right” “Oh and what about my stretchmarks!!” All of the self-sabotaging thoughts you could think about made me nervous as heck!
What was something you did to calm your nerves before your big day?
I just tried not to focus on any negative thoughts. I put some music on while I got ready; you know the kind of music we all listen to that makes us feel like we can conquer the world and I reminded myself, you got this.
“It was the most liberating and confidence boosting thing I’ve ever done!”
What would you say to another woman who was considering doing a session with me?
Please do not hesitate! It was the most liberating and confidence boosting thing I’ve ever done! I’ve never done anything like this before and Ginger pretty much held my hand throughout the entire process. Her personality and energy made me forget that I was with a stranger/photographer. We laughed and talked throughout the entire session. I felt like I knew her forever; she made me feel so comfortable.
How did you feel when you left the studio the day of your session?
What is the best thing you took away from your session?
Self-confidence, the feeling of I can accomplish anything I set my mind to, and a friend/photographer until you retire.
What did I do for/with you that was most helpful?
You guided me throughout the entire process from helping me put together my look to helping me with poses. You also made me feel comfortable and relaxed.
Which pieces of lingerie where your favorites and where did you find it?
The black bodysuit was my favorite! I felt like a naughty vixen haha. Something I’ve never felt before! I got that piece from Fashionnova
What could I have done better?
Absolutely nothing! I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with.
